Pharmaceutical Sales Representative

Volō Healthcare is looking for a highly-motivated Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for the Calgary/Edmonton area. Previous pharmaceutical/nutraceutical sales experience is not required, however is an asset. Successful candidates will be calling on specialists, family doctors, pharmacies and other healthcare professionals.

This is a full-time permanent position.

Scope of Work:

  • Meet and exceed assigned sales goals for your specific territory by establishing strong relationships with Healthcare Professionals (i.e., OB/GYNs, GPs, Nephrologists, Gastroenterologists, Haematologists, Pharmacists and Nurses) and promote Volō products
  • Use promotional materials during sales presentations to strengthen product knowledge
  • Build a high level of product knowledge to effectively sell assigned products
  • Develop KOLs and speakers for CME and medical conferences
  • Attend any promotional events, conferences as required
  • Prepare annual business plans describing strategies for achieving established goals
  • Plan and conduct value-added or educational programs for HCPs (i.e. speaker programs, journal clubs, lunch & learn sessions etc.) to promote Volō products
  • Travel throughout assigned territory to all on targeted healthcare professionals in hospitals, medical clinics, pharmacies and other treatment centres
  • Attend weekend and evening functions
  • Prepare for, attend and actively participate in sales and training meetings, including completion of initial sales training

Experience Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree is required
  • A proven track record of a minimum of 2 years’ sales experience, pharmaceutical sales experience an asset
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational and territory management skills are essential
  • Persuasive with details and facts
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • High level of drive, competitive spirit and a track record of achievement
  • Ability to positively impact and influence others as well as establish credibility and build strong business relationships

Independent Sales Representative

We are looking for highly motivated professionals wanting to add a new product to their product offerings.

This is a 100% commission (uncapped) position best suited for those who have existing relationships with health care practitioners and retailers.


  • Prospecting accounts in the territory
  • Ensuring the execution of Sales Strategies and Promotions by working with owners, purchasers, and/or managers in retail stores
  • Achieving sales and revenue goals by implementing initiatives that increase the health of managed accounts
  • Support accounts via product knowledge provided to key decision makers and in-store staff of brick and mortar health food and supplement stores
  • Achieving increased in-store presence via banners, posters and other marketing materials
  • Attending trade shows in the territory
  • Visiting accounts on a regular basis to provide product knowledge and support all needs of every account

Requirements and Skill-Set

  • 2+ years previous outside sales experience
  • Positive attitude and highly self-motivated
  • Ability & willingness to travel
  • Organized & professional
  • Valid driver’s license is a must
  • Industry experience (health/nutraceuticals/pharmaceuticals) is an asset
  • Basic computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing customer needs
  • Ability to identify new and organic sales growth opportunities

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education
  • Knowledge of supplements industry is an asset
  • Strong customer service and presentation skills
  • High Energy with a willingness to learn and adapt to specific customer needs
  • Self-starter who accepts full responsibility for their sales territory
